The route runs almost entirely on the A-49 motorway, the main corridor linking Seville with Huelva and the Portuguese border at Ayamonte. After leaving the airport on the eastern side of Seville, the transfer skirts the city and picks up the A-49 heading west. The terrain is flat and agricultural for most of the way, passing exits for Huelva before continuing toward Lepe. You leave the motorway near Lepe and take the local road down to the coast and into the Islantilla resort area. It's dual carriageway nearly the whole distance, so the journey is smooth and predictable, typically around 90 minutes. The only slower stretch is the final few kilometres through the resort's internal roads, where speed limits drop and you navigate between the golf course and apartment complexes.

Because Islantilla is a spread-out resort rather than a compact town, give your driver the specific name of your hotel, urbanización or apartment block, plus the street, not just "Islantilla". Many complexes look alike and share similar names, and satnav often drops you at a general point. If you're self-catering, confirm check-in and key-collection details in advance, as some apartments use a separate reception or key box away from the building. There are no direct trains here, and public transport from Seville Airport is awkward, which is why a door-to-door transfer is worth arranging. For groups heading straight to the golf resort or spreading out to La Antilla and Isla Cristina, agree the exact drop-off point beforehand. Stock up on essentials in Lepe or on arrival, since resort shops keep shorter hours off-season.
