Pirovac sits on a sheltered bay on the Šibenik Riviera, between Vodice and Tisno. Its small old town keeps a section of 16th-century defensive wall and the Church of St. George, and a short causeway links it to the wooded islet of Sustipanac with its Franciscan monastery. Families come in summer for the shallow, gravel-and-pebble beaches and the large Miran campsite on the pine-shaded shore. Two things set the area apart: Makirina Cove, whose black therapeutic mud draws people for skin and joint treatments, and the nearby Vrana Lake Nature Park, Croatia's largest natural lake and a birdwatching site. Tisno, gateway to Murter island and the Kornati archipelago, is a few minutes down the coast.

Zadar Airport sits inland at Zemunik Donji, so almost the whole run is on the A1 motorway heading southeast toward Šibenik. You join the A1 near Zadar and stay on it through open, dry karst country until the Pirovac exit (exit 19). From there it's a short descent on the D8 Adriatic road and local roads down to the bay, where the coast opens up. It's roughly 50 kilometres and around 45 minutes with normal traffic. The motorway section is smooth and fast; the only slow part is the final approach through Pirovac's narrow shoreline streets, especially near the campsite and old town in July and August when parking and turning space are tight.

Give your driver your exact accommodation: Pirovac spreads along the shore and the campsites, apartments near Makirina, and the old town all have different access points, some reached only by tight one-way lanes. If you're staying at the Miran campsite or a beachfront rental, note that cars often can't reach the door in peak season, so agree a drop-off point in advance. There are no toll booths to worry about since the transfer covers the A1 charges. Stock up on groceries at the larger supermarkets in Vodice or on the way, as Pirovac's shops are small. If you plan a day trip to the Kornati islands, boats leave from Tisno and Murter rather than Pirovac itself.
