The last stretch is the part passengers notice: a winding descent down toward the water, with the bay opening up below and the village compressed onto a narrow shelf between the hills and the sea. Expect around 45 to 55 minutes for the roughly 45 km, longer on peak summer weekends.

Novigrad's centre is compact and the lanes down by the harbour are tight, so give your driver the name of your guesthouse or apartment rather than just "Novigrad" — the town shares its name with a larger, unrelated Novigrad in Istria, and confirming you mean Novigrad near Zadar avoids a serious detour. Many rentals sit above the waterfront on steep streets where a vehicle can't reach the door; ask in advance about the nearest drop-off point. There are few shops, so stock up in Zadar or at the airport if you arrive late.
