Murter is the launch point for trips into the Kornati National Park, so most summer visitors are here for boats. Marina Hramina in Murter town and Marina Betina fill with charter yachts, and skippered day trips to the Kornati archipelago leave from the waterfront. Murter town has Slanica, one of the few genuinely sandy beaches in the area, popular with families. Betina is the traditional wooden-boat building village and has a small museum of wooden shipbuilding. Jezera and Tisno are quieter fishing settlements; Tisno also hosts summer electronic music festivals at The Garden site by the bridge. Peak season runs July and August, when the island's population swells with sailors, second-home owners and day-trippers.

Zadar Airport sits inland at Zemunik Donji, southeast of the city. The route heads southeast toward Šibenik, either along the A1 motorway or the D8 coastal road, exiting near Pirovac. From there a short local road runs down to Tisno, where the island connects to the mainland by a small bascule (drawbridge). The bridge opens on a schedule to let boats pass, and Tisno's town straddles both sides, so the final approach is slow and narrow. Once across, the road continues through Jezera to Murter town and Betina at the northern tip. The full journey is roughly 55 kilometres and around 50–60 minutes, mostly easy driving until the tight streets near the bridge and in the old cores.

The Tisno bridge is the one thing that can delay you: it opens periodically for boat traffic and queues form on both sides, so allow buffer time if you have a Kornati charter or a return flight to catch. If your destination is a marina berth (Hramina or Betina), give the exact pontoon or charter company name, as the waterfronts are large. The old cores of Murter, Betina and Jezera have narrow one-way lanes where a car can't always reach the door; your driver may drop you at the nearest accessible point. Summer traffic on the coastal stretch near Pirovac and Vodice is heavy in late afternoon. In July and August, book your return pickup well ahead, as demand around festival weekends in Tisno is high.
