Private transfer from Zadar Airport to Brela
Door-to-door transfer from Zadar Airport to Brela with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Brela is known for
Brela sits on the northern end of the Makarska Riviera, below the Biokovo massif, and is quieter and more residential than Makarska town itself. Its best-known spot is Punta Rata beach, with the pine-topped Brela Stone (Brelski kamik) rising just offshore. The pebble beaches run for kilometres, linked by a shaded seaside promenade that continues north toward Baška Voda. The village splits into Donja Brela along the water and Gornja Brela up the slope. It draws families and couples in summer for the calm water and pine cover, and walkers in spring and autumn who use the trails climbing toward Biokovo Nature Park. There's little nightlife by design; people come for swimming, seafood konobas, and slow evenings on the promenade rather than clubs.
The drive down from Zadar Airport
From Zadar Airport near Zemunik the route joins the A1 motorway and runs southeast toward Split for most of the journey — fast, straight, and easy, past Šibenik and the Krka hinterland. Rather than continuing to Split's traffic, the transfer leaves the motorway at the Zagvozd exit and passes through the Sveti Ilija tunnel, which cuts under the Biokovo ridge and emerges high above the coast near Baška Voda. From there the road drops in a series of tight bends down to the Adriatic coastal highway (the D8), then runs a short stretch north into Brela. The final descent is the part passengers notice: a steep, winding approach with the sea opening up below. Expect roughly two and a quarter hours in normal conditions.
Practical tips for the Brela transfer
Brela's accommodation is spread along the coast and up the hillside, so have the exact villa, apartment or hotel name ready — the parts of Donja and Gornja Brela are connected by narrow lanes, and many properties sit below the D8 with steps down to the door rather than direct car access. Tell the driver in advance if you're staying near Punta Rata or on the Baška Voda side. In July and August the coastal highway through Brela and Baška Voda backs up in late afternoon, so a mid-morning arrival moves faster. If you're flying into Zadar but could also use Split Airport, note that Split is closer to Brela; choose Zadar only if the flight or timing suits you better. Bring water for the drive — there are few stops after the motorway.
