Oropesa del Mar sits on the Castellón coast, split between a hilltop old town crowned by the Torre del Rey and Torre de la Corda, and a long stretch of resort seafront below. Families come mainly in summer for Playa de la Concha, Playa Morro de Gos and the smaller Las Playetas coves, plus the large Marina d'Or complex with its aparthotels and spa. The Vía Verde del Mar walking and cycling path follows the old coastal railway toward Benicàssim. It's a straightforward beach base rather than a nightlife town, popular with Spanish and northern-European holidaymakers who return year after year to the same apartment blocks.

The route runs almost entirely on motorway. From Valencia Airport at Manises you join the ring roads and head north on the A-7/AP-7 corridor toward Castellón and Tarragona. The landscape is flat coastal plain with orange and citrus groves, the sea occasionally visible to the right, and the Desert de les Palmes hills rising inland. You pass Sagunto and skirt Castellón and Benicàssim before the Oropesa exits. Expect roughly 90 minutes for around 125 kilometres. The final stretch leaves the motorway onto local roads that split toward the old town, the Marina d'Or entrances, or the seafront apartments — worth knowing your block or hotel name in advance.

Oropesa spreads over several distinct zones, so tell your driver exactly where you're staying: the old town uphill, the Marina d'Or complex (which has multiple reception points and street entrances), or the beach apartments near Playa de la Concha. GPS confusion between the old town and the seafront is common. If you land in high summer, the last kilometres and resort car parks get congested on Saturday changeover days. There's a Renfe station on the Valencia–Barcelona line, but for luggage and family groups a direct road transfer avoids the connection at Castellón. Supermarkets and many restaurants near the beach run on seasonal hours and thin out sharply outside July and August.
