Benidorm splits into two long beaches divided by the old town on the Balcón del Mediterráneo headland. Playa de Levante is the busier eastern side, backed by the high-rise hotel wall and the Rincón de Loix nightlife zone popular with British and Dutch visitors. Playa de Poniente is quieter and favoured by families and Spanish residents, especially in summer. Between them the Casco Antiguo holds tapas bars and the marina, with boats out to Isla de Benidorm. Families come for Terra Mítica, Aqualandia and Mundomar; walkers head for the Sierra Helada ridge above Levante. It stays active year-round, drawing northern-European long-stay visitors through the mild winter as well as the July–August crowds.

Valencia Airport sits at Manises, west of the city, so the route first loops onto the ring roads before joining the A-7/AP-7 heading south. Almost the entire journey is motorway, passing inland of Cullera, Gandía and Dénia, with the Montgó massif and later the Sierra Helada visible to your left as you near the Marina Baixa. The Alicante stretch of the AP-7 is now toll-free. You leave the motorway on the approach to Benidorm and drop down through the newer resort districts toward the coast; the final stretch into Levante or the town centre involves the one-way avenues rather than any tight mountain road. Expect roughly 90 minutes to an hour and three-quarters depending on summer traffic.

Tell your driver which beach your hotel faces: Levante and Poniente are at opposite ends of a long seafront, and the wrong side means a lengthy walk with luggage. Many of the tall Levante hotels near Avenida del Mediterráneo have their entrance on a back street rather than the promenade, so give the full address, not just the hotel name. In the Casco Antiguo the lanes are pedestrianised or one-way, and a car often cannot reach the door — arrange the nearest drop point in advance. If you're staying near Terra Mítica or the Rincón de Loix, note these are separate districts from the beachfront. In July and August the N-332 through town crawls, so allow extra time for departure pickups.
