The A68 is dual carriageway almost the whole way, running through flat and gently rolling farmland past Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe and Gaillac. The terrain is entirely inland — no coast, no mountain passes — and the driving is straightforward. Expect around 70 minutes, though the first stretch across the Toulouse rocade is the unpredictable part, especially at morning and evening rush hour. Once clear of the city the motorway moves quickly. The approach into Albi leaves the A68 and follows local roads toward the centre, where the streets around the cathedral become tight and one-way.

If your hotel is inside the Cité Épiscopale, tell the driver in advance: several streets around the cathedral are pedestrianised or restricted, and the nearest set-down point may be a short walk with your luggage. Ask to be dropped near Place Sainte-Cécile or the Palais de la Berbie rather than assuming the car can reach the door. Traffic on the Toulouse rocade can add 20–30 minutes during weekday peaks, so build in margin for a return flight.
