Dobrota is a long, narrow settlement that runs north along the shore of the Bay of Kotor, directly beyond Kotor's old town. It has no single centre — houses, apartments and small hotels line a single coastal road for several kilometres, backed by steep mountains. The town is known for its Baroque stone palaces built by 18th-century sea captains, and for the churches of St Eustace and St Matthew right on the water. People choose Dobrota to be within walking distance of Kotor's walls and cafés while sleeping somewhere quieter. There are small pebble and concrete swimming spots rather than sandy beaches, plus a waterfront promenade and seafood restaurants facing the bay. Most visitors are couples and families in summer renting waterfront apartments.

The route leaves Tivat Airport and follows the bay-side road toward Kotor, tracing the water for most of the way. After passing Tivat and the district of Škaljari, you reach the edge of Kotor, then continue past the old town onto Dobrota's single shore road. It is a short trip in distance but rarely fast: the road is two lanes, hugs the coast, and slows sharply near Kotor where cruise traffic, pedestrians and parked cars build up in summer. The final stretch through Dobrota is narrow and winding, with the bay on one side and stone walls on the other. Allow around thirty minutes, and considerably more in July and August when the Kotor waterfront is congested. There is no motorway — expect a slow coastal drive throughout.

Because Dobrota stretches for kilometres along one road with no obvious landmark, give your driver the exact name of your apartment or hotel and, ideally, a pinned map location — properties are numbered along the shore rather than grouped in a centre. Many buildings sit right on the water with parking only across the road, so tell the driver in advance if you have heavy luggage. In summer, the Kotor waterfront can be closed or gridlocked around cruise-ship days; a transfer that drops you at your door saves dragging bags along the narrow promenade. If you plan day trips, note there are no car-rental desks in Dobrota itself. Evening arrivals are easier as the coastal traffic thins, and the drive back to the airport is quick outside peak hours.
