The town has banks, supermarkets, a pharmacy and Sunday-style local shopping that resort visitors rely on. Most arrivals are summer holidaymakers heading to villa rentals and hotels along the west and east coasts, plus Greek families with second homes. Peak season runs June to early September. Afytos, a short drive away, keeps stone houses and clifftop tavernas overlooking the Toroneos Gulf, and is the most visited traditional settlement on the peninsula.

From Makedonia Airport the route heads south and east away from Thessaloniki, joining the road toward Nea Moudania. This first stretch is fast, open dual carriageway across farmland and the flat plain behind the coast. At Nea Moudania the road narrows as it approaches the neck of the peninsula, crossing near the Potidea canal that separates Kassandra from the mainland. After the canal the road continues along the peninsula toward Kassandreia town. Expect roughly 80 minutes in normal conditions, longer on summer weekends when the Nea Moudania junction and the canal crossing back up with beach traffic. The terrain is gentle rather than mountainous, with sea views opening once you're past Nea Potidea and onto the peninsula proper.

Confirm your exact drop-off, not just "Kassandreia": many bookings are actually for hotels in Kallithea, Sani, Pefkochori or nearby villages, each adding driving time beyond the town itself. Sani Resort in particular has several separate entrances and a gated access point, so give the specific hotel name. If you land on a summer Friday or Saturday afternoon, the Potidea canal crossing is the main bottleneck; an earlier or later flight avoids the worst. Kassandreia town has ATMs and larger supermarkets that many coastal villages lack, so it's a sensible stop for cash and groceries on the way to a villa. Mobile coverage is reliable along the whole route. For evening arrivals, note that the final village roads are unlit in places, so agree a clear meeting point in advance.
