This is one of the longest routes from Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport — expect roughly seven hours of driving, so it's a genuine cross-country journey rather than a quick hop. The practical option follows the motorway network inland: south toward Fez on the A1, then east on the A2 toward Oujda, before turning north on the link road down to Nador. Most of it is dual-carriageway toll motorway with steady service areas for fuel and food. The alternative Mediterranean coastal road (Rocade, N16) through Tetouan and Al Hoceima is closer to the sea but far slower, with continuous mountain bends through the Rif. On either route the final approach into Nador flattens out as you reach the plain around Mar Chica.

Given the distance, coordinate your flight arrival with daylight if you can — much of the inland motorway is fine at night, but arriving into Nador in the light makes finding an address easier. Bring water and snacks; the drive is long and stops are at your discretion. If your real destination is Melilla, tell the driver in advance: the transfer ends on the Moroccan side at the Beni Enzar crossing, and you continue on foot through border control, so have your passport accessible. For the Beni Ansar ferry port, allow buffer time on top of the drive. Confirm whether you want the faster inland motorway route or the slower coastal road, because the difference in time is significant. A single fixed driver for the whole way avoids the changes you'd face on shared transport.
