The Royal Golf de Cabo Negro is a short drive south, and the beaches of Cabo Negro, M'diq and Martil are all within easy reach. Tetouan's UNESCO-listed medina lies inland, worth a half-day for its whitewashed lanes and Andalusian architecture. The marina itself is quiet out of season; most life concentrates around the harbour promenade and the larger resort hotels. Fnideq and the Ceuta border crossing are roughly 15 minutes north for day-trippers.

The route leaves Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport southwest of the city and joins the motorway heading east toward Tetouan. Most of the journey is fast dual carriageway crossing inland hills, with the Rif mountains rising to the south. As you approach Tetouan the road descends toward the coast and links onto the Mediterranean coastal road (Rocade) running north past Martil and M'diq. The final stretch to Marina Smir is coastal, with the harbour and beaches on your right as you near the resort. Expect around 100 km and roughly an hour and a half depending on traffic through the Tetouan approaches, which can slow in summer. The resort has several entrances serving different hotel and apartment blocks, so a specific address helps.

Book the transfer to a named hotel, apartment building or marina gate rather than just "Marina Smir" — the complex is large and drivers need the exact block to avoid circling. If you are arriving to a berthed boat, note the pontoon or quay name. In July and August the coastal road through M'diq and the marina approach gets congested in late afternoon and evening, so an early arrival window is smoother. Carry some dirhams for incidentals; card acceptance at smaller marina cafés is patchy. If you plan to cross into Ceuta via Fnideq, your driver can only take you to the Moroccan side of the border. Confirm whether you want a stop in Tetouan's medina en route, as it adds time but breaks up the drive well.
