Private transfer from Split Airport to Sibenik
Door-to-door transfer from Split Airport to Sibenik with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Sibenik is known for
Sibenik sits where the Krka river meets the sea, and unlike Split or Zadar it grew as a Croatian town rather than a Roman one. Its centrepiece is the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James, built entirely of stone with a frieze of 71 carved heads on the exterior. Above the old town stand four fortresses; St Michael's now hosts summer concerts, and St John's reopened after restoration with panoramic walkways. Families and boaters use Solaris Beach Resort just south of town, with its several hotels and marina. Many travellers arrive to catch boats into Krka National Park for the Skradinski Buk waterfalls. The tight stone lanes climbing from the Riva waterfront are pedestrian-only, so cars stop at the edges.
The drive from Split Airport to Sibenik
Split Airport is at Kastela, on the coast between Split and Trogir, which puts you on the correct side for Sibenik from the start. The route joins the A1 motorway near Prgomet and runs northwest through inland karst terrain — rocky hills and low scrub rather than open sea views for most of the way. You leave at the Sibenik exit and drop down toward the coast on the D33, where the town and its channel come into view on the final approach. The whole trip is around 55 kilometres and usually takes about 50 minutes. Traffic is light outside July and August, but the motorway toll plaza and the summer queues heading for the coast can add time on peak weekends.
Practical tips for this transfer
If your accommodation is inside the old town, tell your driver the nearest gate or the Poljana square, since vehicles cannot enter the pedestrian core and you may walk the last few minutes uphill with luggage — pack accordingly. For Solaris Resort, give the specific hotel name (Ivan, Andrija, Niko or Jakov), as the complex has separate entrances spread along the shore. Travellers heading onward to Krka should note that boats depart from Skradin, a further 15 minutes inland, and it is often smoother to be dropped there directly. Split Airport gets very busy in summer; agree a meeting point and keep your driver's number handy. Evening arrivals are simple, as the motorway is well lit to the Sibenik exit and the final descent is straightforward.
