Private transfer from Split Airport to Omis
Door-to-door transfer from Split Airport to Omis with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Omis is known for
Omis sits where the Cetina river cuts through the mountains and meets the sea, and the town is squeezed between rock walls and the coast. The old core is a tight grid of stone lanes below the Mirabella (Peovica) fortress, with the Starigrad (Fortica) fort higher up the ridge for those willing to climb. Families base themselves here in summer for the long town beach, Velika Plaza (Punta), and the calmer coves toward Nemira and Duce along the riviera. The Cetina canyon just inland is the main draw for active visitors: river rafting, canyoning and zip-lines run from spring through early autumn. It's a working town year-round, not a resort that empties in winter.
The drive south along the coast
Split Airport is at Kaštela, northwest of the city, so the route runs the length of Split's suburbs before turning south. Drivers usually take the D8 Adriatic coastal road through Stobrec and Podstrana, then follow the shoreline down to Omis, roughly 50 kilometres and around 55 minutes in normal conditions. The section past Split can slow in July and August, and again during afternoon beach traffic. The final stretch hugs the water with the mountains rising straight up on the inland side, so the approach into town is scenic but tight. Omis's old-town lanes are too narrow for larger vehicles, so drop-offs are made at the nearest accessible point rather than at your door if you're staying inside the historic core.
Practical notes for this route
Confirm your exact accommodation location, as Omis stretches along the riviera: villages like Duce, Nemira, Stanici and Mimice are several kilometres from the town centre and often reached by turning off the main road onto steep lanes. If you're heading to a rafting or canyoning meeting point on the Cetina, give the operator's name so the driver aims for the correct riverside base rather than the old town. Ferry connections to the islands run from Split, not Omis, so plan island day-trips from the city. For late arrivals, note that parking near the historic centre is limited in summer; a pre-booked transfer avoids circling for a space. Bring cash or a card for beach-club and market purchases, as some smaller places are card-only in shoulder season.
