The whole trip is dual carriageway almost the entire way, so it is smooth rather than winding, with rolling hills of cork oak and eucalyptus rather than coast views. Expect roughly two and a half hours depending on traffic around Faro. The final approach drops down toward the Arade river and town.

Remember the one-hour time difference: Portugal runs an hour behind Spain, so set your watch back at the border and factor it into check-in and dinner times. The A-22 in Portugal uses electronic-only tolls with no booths, which a private driver handles for you, but it matters if you were considering self-drive. If you are staying at a Praia da Rocha hotel, note that the clifftop avenue is one-way in parts and drop-off points can be a short walk from reception, so confirm the exact entrance with your driver. There are no reliable service stops for a stretch after the border, so use the facilities before leaving Seville Airport.
