Private transfer from Sarajevo International Airport to Stolac
Door-to-door transfer from Sarajevo International Airport to Stolac with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Stolac is known for
Stolac sits along the Bregava River in eastern Herzegovina, and the river runs right through the centre past old stone water mills and Ottoman-era bridges. The main draw for visitors is the Radimlja necropolis, a field of medieval carved stećci tombstones on the road toward Čapljina, now a UNESCO site. Above the town rises Vidoški fortress, and the Begovina quarter preserves stone Ottoman houses. Most who come are day-trippers and history-minded travellers, often combining Stolac with Blagaj, Počitelj and Mostar. Spring and early autumn are the most comfortable seasons; midsummer in the Herzegovina lowlands gets very hot. The town is small and walkable, with cafés set along the water where locals gather in the evenings.
The drive down the Neretva valley
From Sarajevo International Airport the route heads south on the M17 corridor, following the Neretva river valley through Konjic and Jablanica. This stretch is scenic but slow in places, with tunnels, a reservoir lake and stretches shared with trucks. New motorway sections around the Mostar approach have shortened part of the journey. After Mostar the road turns southeast toward Buna and Domanović, then onto the regional road into Stolac, passing dry karst hills and vineyards. The final approach follows the Bregava into town on narrower streets. Expect roughly two and a half hours in normal conditions. The valley section can back up behind slow vehicles, so travel times vary more than the distance suggests.
Practical tips for this route
Stolac has few large hotels, so many visitors stay in guesthouses or in nearby Mostar; confirm the exact drop-off address, as small pensions can be tucked on narrow lanes near the Bregava. If you want to see Radimlja, ask the driver to stop there on the way in, since it sits directly on the approach road and is easy to combine. Fuel and rest stops are best taken in Konjic or around Mostar rather than the final leg. Cash in convertible marks is useful for small cafés and the necropolis entrance. If arriving on a late flight, note that the valley road is dark and winding, so allow extra time. Border crossings are not involved on this domestic route.
