Private transfer from Sarajevo International Airport to Jajce
Door-to-door transfer from Sarajevo International Airport to Jajce with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Jajce is known for
Jajce sits where the Pliva river drops around 20 metres straight into the Vrbas, right in the middle of town — one of the few waterfalls in Europe inside an urban centre. Above it stands the medieval fortress, reached through steep old-town lanes past the underground Catacombs and the Church of St Mary bell tower. A few kilometres west are the Pliva Lakes, ringed by the small wooden watermills known as Mlinčići, popular for swimming and picnics in summer. History travellers come for the AVNOJ museum, where the second Yugoslavia was founded in 1943. Most visitors are day-trippers and short-stay tourists combining Jajce with Travnik or the Pliva valley, busiest from May to September.
The drive from the airport through the Bosna and Lašva valleys
From Sarajevo International Airport the route heads out of the Sarajevo basin and follows the M5 corridor northwest through the Bosna valley toward Kiseljak, Busovača and Vitez. The road then climbs into the Lašva valley and passes Travnik, with its Ottoman old town and coloured mosque, before continuing over higher, forested ground toward Donji Vakuf and finally along the Vrbas into Jajce. It is roughly 170 kilometres and takes around three hours. Almost none of it is motorway — expect a mostly two-lane road with slower stretches through towns, some climbing and winding sections, and lorry traffic between the industrial towns of central Bosnia. The scenery shifts from open valley farmland to tighter river gorges as you approach Jajce.
Planning your transfer to Jajce
Because the journey runs on ordinary roads through several towns, allow extra time in the morning and late afternoon when traffic around Vitez and Travnik slows. Travnik makes an easy stop for coffee or lunch roughly halfway — worth arranging with your driver in advance. Jajce's old town is largely pedestrian and steep, so ask to be set down at the lower entrance near the waterfall viewpoint rather than expecting a vehicle to reach the fortress. If you plan to visit the Pliva Lakes and Mlinčići watermills, note they are a short drive west of the centre, not walkable from the old town. Bring cash in convertible marks; smaller cafés and the museum may not take cards, and winter travel can be slower after snow over the higher sections.
