Vietri Sul Mare sits at the eastern end of the Amalfi Coast, where the SS163 Amalfitana begins. The Church of San Giovanni Battista has a coloured majolica dome visible across the rooftops. Day-trippers come for the shops and beach, while others use it as a quieter base than Amalfi or Positano, especially spring through early autumn.

Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport is at Pontecagnano, east of Salerno. The route runs west through the Salerno plain and along the city's edge, mostly on fast dual-carriageway roads, then joins the coastal approach at the western end of Salerno where Vietri begins. It's a short trip, around 20 kilometres, and usually takes about 35 minutes outside peak times. The first two-thirds is flat and straightforward; the final stretch tightens as the road climbs and bends towards the sea, giving the first Amalfi Coast views. Vietri's centre and Marina have narrow, steep streets, so a driver may drop you at a practical point near your accommodation rather than directly outside.

If your accommodation is in Marina di Vietri or up in Raito or Albori, note the address and any nearby car park in advance, as vehicles can't reach many doorsteps and you may face a short walk or steps with luggage. Pack light where possible. This is the gentlest arrival point on the Amalfi Coast, so it's a sensible base if you dislike long cliff-road drives but still want the coast; the Salerno ferry terminal for Amalfi and Positano is only minutes away. Summer weekends bring heavy beach traffic through Vietri, so an early or midday transfer moves faster. Confirm your flight number with the driver so pickup adjusts if you land late.
