The drive from the airport to Vietri
Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport is at Pontecagnano, east of Salerno. The route runs west through the Salerno plain and along the city's edge, mostly on fast dual-carriageway roads, then joins the coastal approach at the western end of Salerno where Vietri begins. It's a short trip, around 20 kilometres, and usually takes about 35 minutes outside peak times. The first two-thirds is flat and straightforward; the final stretch tightens as the road climbs and bends towards the sea, giving the first Amalfi Coast views. Vietri's centre and Marina have narrow, steep streets, so a driver may drop you at a practical point near your accommodation rather than directly outside.
