Door-to-door transfer from Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport to Amalfi with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What you'll find in Amalfi
Amalfi is built into a ravine where the town meets the sea, with everything radiating from Piazza Duomo and the steep staircase of the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea. Marina Grande is the main beach, right beside the bus terminus and the ferry dock. Walk inland along Via delle Cartiere to reach the Museo della Carta, a reminder that Amalfi made paper for centuries, and continue up into the Valle delle Ferriere for waterfalls and a nature reserve. Day-trippers arrive by ferry in summer for the churches, limoncello shops and seafood; hikers use Amalfi as a base for the Path of the Gods and the walk to neighbouring Atrani. Ravello sits high above on the hillside, reached by a separate winding road.
The drive along the SS163 coast road
The airport sits near Pontecagnano, southeast of Salerno on flat coastal land. The first stretch skirts Salerno on fast dual carriageway, then the road narrows at Vietri sul Mare, where the SS163 Amalfitana begins. From there it is coastal all the way: a two-lane cliff road with tight bends, tunnels and blind corners hugging the sea past Cetara, Maiori, Minori and Atrani before Amalfi. The final approach is slow and winding, and in summer buses and scooters make it slower still. Expect roughly 45 km and around an hour and a quarter, longer on July and August afternoons. Sit on the seaward side for the best views; travellers prone to motion sickness should be ready for the constant curves.
Practical tips for arriving in Amalfi
Vehicles cannot reach most Amalfi accommodation directly. The town centre is pedestrian, and cars stop at the seafront near Piazza Flavio Gioia and the Luna Rossa tunnel; from there many hotels and apartments involve steps or hand-carted luggage, so pack light and confirm the drop-off point with your host in advance. If you are staying in Ravello, ask whether the driver continues up the hill or leaves you in Amalfi to change. During summer weekends the coast road can jam completely, so an early or mid-afternoon arrival avoids the worst. For onward travel, ferries from Marina Grande to Positano, Salerno and Capri are faster and more reliable than the road in peak season, and worth building into your plans.
