Malinska sits on the west coast of Krk island, in the Dubašnica area, and works mainly as a family and summer-residence resort. The seafront promenade runs from the small harbour toward the coves at Vantačići and Porat, and continues north along the shore toward Njivice. Rajska plaža (Paradise Beach) is the best-known pebble beach here, backed by pine woods. The centre keeps a compact old core around the parish church, with cafés and a Tuesday-morning market. Many visitors are Central European regulars who return each July and August; spring and autumn draw walkers using the coastal paths. Nearby you'll pass the ruins of the Haludovo Palace hotel, a former 1970s complex left derelict on the way in from the harbour side.

Rijeka Airport is on Krk itself, near Omišalj at the north end of the island, so this transfer never leaves Krk and doesn't use the Krk Bridge. From the terminal the route heads a short way to the main island road and turns south, passing the Omišalj junction and running above the coast toward Njivice. The final stretch drops down local roads into Malinska. It's a short trip, usually around twenty minutes, over gentle, partly wooded terrain rather than steep mountain roads. The last approach into the resort involves a few narrow one-way streets near the harbour and promenade, which can be slow in peak August traffic. If your accommodation is in Vantačići or Porat, tell the driver, as those are separate coves west of the centre.

Because the airport and Malinska are both on Krk, delays here come from summer congestion, not distance. Flights into Rijeka are seasonal and cluster on weekends in July and August, so several planeloads can arrive together — a pre-booked driver waiting at arrivals saves you queuing for scarce local taxis. Many Malinska apartments and the campsites at Porat sit on lanes that satnavs read poorly, so bring the exact address or a phone contact for the host. If you plan a beach arrival, the pebble coves mean water shoes are worth having in your carry-on. For a return trip, allow extra minutes in high season for the harbour-area streets. Note that little is open late off-season, so arrange any evening arrival transfer in advance rather than expecting on-the-spot options.
