Private transfer from Rijeka Airport to Krk island

Krk is the largest of Croatia's Adriatic islands and, unusually, its airport (Rijeka Airport) sits right on it, near Omišalj. The main hub is Krk town in the south, with its walled old core, Frankopan Castle and the Cathedral of the Assumption. Punat, just east, holds one of the Adriatic's biggest marinas and the boat point for tiny Košljun islet. Baška, at the island's southern tip, draws families to Vela plaža, a long pebble beach backed by bare hills. Malinska and Njivice on the west coast are quieter resort towns, while Vrbnik clings to a cliff above vineyards producing Žlahtina white wine. Summer is peak; spring and autumn suit hikers and cyclists on the island's marked trails.

Because the airport is already on Krk, the transfer is short and stays entirely on the island. The route follows the D102, the road that runs down the island's spine from Omišalj through Njivice and Malinska before reaching Krk town, roughly 25 km and around 30 minutes with no traffic. The terrain is low, dry and open, with stretches of sea view on the west side and scrubby limestone inland. If you're heading to Baška, expect a longer, more winding leg south past Krk town over higher, barer hills, closer to 45 minutes. Punat is a short hop east of Krk town. The roads are two-lane and well surfaced; the only slow points are the narrow, partly pedestrian streets in Krk and Vrbnik's old centres.

Rijeka Airport is seasonal and busy mainly from late spring to early autumn, with charter arrivals clustering flights; give your driver your accommodation's exact address, as many Krk and Baška apartments sit in car-free zones where the drop-off is at the nearest edge and you finish on foot. If your final stop is Baška or Punat marina, mention it when booking so the right driving time is allowed. Note the airport also serves visitors continuing to the mainland via the Krk Bridge and toll booth, so confirm your destination is on the island itself. Bring cash or a card for beach parking if you plan onward trips. In shoulder season some resort restaurants and ferry links to Rab or Cres run reduced schedules.
