You pass the outskirts of Sosúa, roadside colmados and small businesses, before the road opens up along the water on the final stretch. It is not a mountain road and there are no long winding climbs. The last approach into Cabarete narrows as the highway becomes the town's single main street, which slows to walking pace when the beach bars and shops are busy in the evening.

Cabarete accommodation ranges from beachfront apartments and small hotels along the main road to villas up the hillside behind town, so give your driver the exact property name and, ideally, the nearest landmark (Kite Beach, the main strip, or Playa Encuentro). Many properties sit on the sand side with no vehicle access, meaning the drop-off is on the road and you carry bags a short way. If you are arriving with board bags or kite gear, mention it when booking so the right vehicle is sent. Evening traffic on the main street is slow, so allow extra time for a night arrival. Cash in Dominican pesos is useful for the beach bars and smaller shops, and there are ATMs and supermarkets along the strip.
