What makes Disneyland Paris different
Disneyland Paris sits at Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy, east of the city, and is really two parks side by side: Disneyland Park with Sleeping Beauty Castle, and the smaller Walt Disney Studios Park. Around them is Disney Village, a free-entry strip of restaurants, shops and a cinema, plus the resort's own hotels like the Disneyland Hotel at the main gate, the Newport Bay Club and Sequoia Lodge by Lake Disney. Most visitors are families, but you'll also see groups coming for seasonal events — Halloween decorations in October and the Christmas season from November. School holidays and summer weekends are the busiest. Many guests combine their trip with Val d'Europe shopping centre and La Vallée Village outlet, both a few minutes away.
The drive from Orly across the south and east of Paris
Orly is south of Paris and the resort is east, so the transfer loops around the city rather than through it. The usual route takes the A86 ring and then the A4 motorway heading east toward Metz/Nancy, leaving at exit 14 for the parks. It's motorway almost the whole way, flat and built-up, passing Créteil and the eastern suburbs — no scenic stretch, just a steady run. In free-flowing traffic it's around 45 to 50 minutes. The last few minutes are the fiddly part: the resort has separate signposted turnings for the theme parks, Disney Village, and each hotel, so your driver needs the name of your specific hotel to drop you at the right entrance rather than the general car parks.
Practical tips for the Orly–Disneyland run
Have your hotel name and reservation ready, not just "Disneyland" — the difference between the Disneyland Hotel at the gate and Sequoia Lodge by the lake is a real walk with luggage and small children. If you're staying off-site in the Val d'Europe area (Serris, Chessy, Bailly-Romainvilliers), give that address directly. Traffic on the A4 builds in the late afternoon weekday rush, so an early arrival or a mid-morning departure runs smoother. A private car is especially worth it on the way in: the RER A train from central Paris doesn't reach Orly directly, so public transport from this airport means changes. Book child seats in advance, since most groups on this route travel with young kids, and allow extra time around major holiday periods.
