Private transfer from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport to La Marmorata, Santa Teresa di Gallura
Door-to-door transfer from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport to La Marmorata, Santa Teresa di Gallura with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
La Marmorata and Santa Teresa di Gallura
La Marmorata is a low-rise holiday area a few kilometres west of Santa Teresa di Gallura, on Sardinia's far northern tip facing the small Marmorata islands and, across the Strait of Bonifacio, Corsica. The beach here is shallow and sandy, which draws families with young children in July and August. Santa Teresa itself keeps a walkable centre around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, with the Aragonese Torre di Longosardo above Rena Bianca beach and a port running seasonal ferries to Bonifacio. Capo Testa, with its wind-sculpted granite and two lighthouses, sits just to the west. Most visitors are beach-focused summer travellers and second-home owners; the town quietens sharply from October, when many restaurants and rental villas close for the season.
The drive north from Olbia through Arzachena and Palau
The route runs the length of the Gallura coast rather than any motorway. You leave the airport and head north, skirting Olbia before joining the corridor towards Arzachena. Beyond Arzachena the road passes the turnoffs for Baja Sardinia and the Costa Smeralda before reaching Palau, opposite the La Maddalena archipelago. From there the road turns west along the coast towards Santa Teresa, then a short branch drops down to La Marmorata. Expect single-carriageway roads for most of the trip, with roundabouts through the towns and some slower, winding stretches near the coast. In peak summer, traffic around Arzachena, Palau and the Santa Teresa junction can add noticeable time, especially late morning and on ferry days. Total driving time is usually a little over an hour.
Practical tips for this transfer
Give your driver the exact villa or residence name in La Marmorata, since the area is spread across unmarked lanes and there is no single central drop-off. Many holiday lets sit on short private tracks, so a pin location helps. If you plan a day trip to Bonifacio or a boat to La Maddalena, note that ferries leave from Santa Teresa and Palau ports respectively, which are on the same road you arrive by. Stock up on groceries in Santa Teresa or the larger Palau shops before settling in, as La Marmorata itself has limited services. Outside July and August, confirm your accommodation is open before booking a late transfer. The final approach involves narrow coastal lanes, so travel light if you can and avoid the tightest arrival windows on peak Saturdays.
