Private transfer from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport to Isola Rossa
Door-to-door transfer from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport to Isola Rossa with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Isola Rossa is like
Isola Rossa is a small fishing and holiday village in the municipality of Trinità d'Agultu e Vignola, on Sardinia's north coast. It takes its name from the reddish porphyry island just offshore, and the old Aragonese watchtower stands over the working harbour where fishing boats still land their catch. The main draw is the beaches: La Marinedda, a wide bay popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers, and Spiaggia Longa closer to the village. Nearby you'll find Costa Paradiso, Li Cossi and the dune beaches of Badesi. It fills up in July and August with Italian families and couples renting apartments, and stays quiet the rest of the year. Evenings centre on the small marina and its seafood restaurants rather than nightlife.
The drive from Olbia across northern Gallura
The route runs across the north of the island rather than along the busy Costa Smeralda coast. From the airport you head west, picking up the four-lane SS729 towards Tempio Pausania, then turning north through the granite hills of inland Gallura before dropping to the coast near Trinità d'Agultu. The final stretch on the SP90 winds down through cork oak and Mediterranean scrub, with the sea coming into view as you approach the village. Expect roughly 80 kilometres and around an hour and twenty minutes, longer in peak summer traffic. Most of the journey is fast open road; only the last few kilometres are slower and twisting. It's a scenic inland-to-coast drive with little of the resort congestion you'd meet heading east.
Practical tips for this transfer
Isola Rossa's accommodation is spread between the village centre, the marina and hillside apartment complexes above the beaches, so give your exact address or residence name in advance — road signage inside the developments is limited. Many apartments are self-catering, so consider a stop for supplies: the closest full supermarkets are in Trinità d'Agultu, a few minutes inland, since the village itself has only small shops. If you're heading to La Marinedda for windsurfing, note it's a separate cove reached by its own access road, not walking distance from the marina. In July and August book your return transfer early, as the single coastal approach gets slow on weekends. The village is compact and walkable once you arrive, but you'll want a plan for the beaches, which are a short drive apart.
