Private transfer from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to Sanremo
Door-to-door transfer from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to Sanremo with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Sanremo is known for
Sanremo sits on the Italian Riviera dei Fiori, just over the border from France. It's best known for the Ariston Theatre, home of the Sanremo Music Festival each February, and for the Casino on Corso degli Inglesi. The old town, La Pigna, is a maze of stepped alleys climbing to the Madonna della Costa sanctuary. Along the seafront, Corso Imperatrice runs past palm gardens to Porto Sole marina. Cyclists and families use the long coastal Pista Ciclabile that follows the old railway line toward Ospedaletti and Bordighera. Golfers head inland to the Circolo Golf degli Ulivi at San Giovanni. The town draws day-trippers year-round, festival crowds in winter, and beach visitors in summer along the pebble shore below the promenade.
The drive across the border on the A8/A10
The route leaves Nice Côte d'Azur Airport on the A8 heading east, passing Monaco's viaducts and the exit chaos around Menton before reaching the French-Italian frontier near Ventimiglia. There the road becomes the Italian A10 (Autostrada dei Fiori), a corridor of tunnels and viaducts cut into the hills above the coast. You exit at Sanremo Ovest or Sanremo Est depending on your address. The whole run is motorway and usually takes under an hour, though summer weekends and the February festival period slow the border area considerably. The final descent into town winds down toward the seafront, and the older streets near La Pigna and the port are narrow, so drivers often set down at the nearest accessible point rather than the exact door.
Practical tips for this transfer
Because you cross into Italy, carry your passport or ID card even though there are usually no border checks — spot controls do happen near Ventimiglia. Italy uses the euro too, so no currency change is needed, but note the time zone is the same. If you're staying near La Pigna or the port, tell the driver in advance: vehicles can't enter the pedestrian old-town lanes, and the closest drop-off may involve a short walk uphill. During the Sanremo Festival week in February, book early and allow extra time, as the centre around the Ariston is closed to traffic and hotels fill quickly. For golf trips, the Circolo Golf degli Ulivi is a further inland climb from the motorway exit, so confirm that as your endpoint rather than the town centre.
