Private transfer from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to Sainte-Maxime
Door-to-door transfer from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport to Sainte-Maxime with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Sainte-Maxime is known for
Sainte-Maxime sits on the north shore of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, directly across the water from Saint-Tropez itself. It draws families in particular, thanks to sheltered, gently shelving beaches like La Nartelle, La Croisette and the coves at La Madrague, which are calmer than the busier resorts opposite. The compact old town centres on the Église Sainte-Maxime and the 16th-century Tour Carrée near the port, with a pedestrian grid of shops and cafés behind the marina. Golfers head inland to the Golf de Sainte-Maxime above the town, with views back over the bay. Most visitors come between June and September; the promenade along the seafront and the Les Bateaux Verts jetty to Saint-Tropez are the focal points in high season.
The drive from Nice Airport to Sainte-Maxime
The route runs west on the A8 motorway past Cannes and Mandelieu, then continues toward Le Muy. You leave the A8 at the Le Muy exit and drop south on the D25, which winds down through the wooded edge of the Massif des Maures toward the coast at Sainte-Maxime. Most of the journey is fast dual-carriageway motorway; the last stretch is a slower, curving descent through hills before the town and seafront come into view. Expect roughly 90 minutes in normal conditions. The scenery shifts from the built-up Riviera coast to inland forest and finally the gulf. It's a genuinely pretty final approach, but the bends mean the last 20 minutes feel slower than the map distance suggests.
Practical tips for this transfer
In July and August the roads around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez clog badly, especially the coastal D559 between Sainte-Maxime, Port Grimaud and Saint-Tropez. If your final plan is Saint-Tropez, it is often faster to be dropped in Sainte-Maxime and take the Les Bateaux Verts ferry across the gulf rather than drive around it. Give your driver the exact beach or residence name, as accommodation spreads several kilometres east along La Nartelle and the coast road, not just the town centre. The old-town streets behind the port are narrow and partly pedestrianised, so drop-offs may be at the nearest accessible point. For flights, allow extra buffer on summer Saturdays, the peak changeover day when the A8 and the Le Muy exit are heaviest.
