Maiori has the longest continuous beach on the Amalfi Coast, a wide stretch of dark sand backed by a rebuilt seafront promenade — the town was reconstructed after the 1954 flood, so its streets are broader and flatter than neighbouring Amalfi or Positano. The main artery, Corso Reginna, runs inland from the sea, lined with cafés and shops, and leads up to the domed Collegiata di Santa Maria a Mare. Above town sit the Norman tower and the rock-cut Abbey of Santa Maria de Olearia. It draws families and beach-focused travellers in July and August, plus walkers using the Lemon Path (Sentiero dei Limoni) to reach neighbouring Minori. Cetara, Erchie, Ravello and Tramonti are all short hops away.

The route leaves Naples (Capodichino) airport on the ring road and joins the A3 motorway toward Salerno. Because Maiori sits at the Salerno end of the coast, drivers usually stay on the A3 past the Vietri sul Mare exit rather than crossing the whole peninsula, then drop onto the SS163 Amalfitana coast road. From Vietri the road hugs the cliffs through Cetara and Erchie before the final descent into Maiori. Expect roughly 90 minutes to two hours: the motorway section moves quickly, but the coastal stretch is a two-lane road of tight bends where buses and oncoming cars can slow everything down. Summer weekends and late-afternoon returns are the worst for congestion around Vietri.

Maiori is one of the easier Amalfi towns for a car to reach, since the seafront (Lungomare Amendola) is a proper road with room to pull in, unlike the pedestrianised centres of Amalfi or Positano. Give your driver the name of your hotel and, if it sits above the main road, the nearest landmark — many properties are on the hillside lanes off the Corso Reginna and reached by steps. If your final stay is in Minori, Ravello or Tramonti, mention it in advance so the driver plans the drop point. During summer the coast road is subject to alternating one-way traffic controls, so build in extra time for a flight out of Naples and leave earlier than the distance suggests.
