Day-trippers come for the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), the Faraglioni rock stacks, and the Via Krupp switchback path. Summer brings crowds and boutique shoppers along Via Camerelle; spring and autumn suit walkers heading to Villa Jovis or the Belvedere di Tragara. There are no large resorts or golf courses here — the appeal is swimming coves, cliff paths, and small hotels tucked into the town's pedestrian lanes.

Because Capri is an island, the private car takes you from Naples International Airport (Capodichino) to the ferry terminal, not to the island itself. The drive to Molo Beverello, in front of Castel Nuovo, is short — roughly 20 to 25 minutes through the city, longer in rush hour or during cruise-ship days. Some services instead use Mergellina, a smaller quay further west. From there you board a hydrofoil or ferry to Marina Grande; the crossing takes around 45 to 50 minutes on a fast boat. On arrival, no cars circulate freely in Capri, so the last leg to your hotel is by funicular, island taxi, or on foot up the lanes.

Book the ferry ticket separately and in advance in summer — sailings sell out, and the last fast boat back to Naples often leaves in the early evening, so plan same-day returns carefully. Beverello has several operators (Caremar, NLG, SNAV) at adjacent berths; check the boarding pier printed on your ticket. Travel light: the funicular from Marina Grande and Capri's stepped lanes make large suitcases awkward, and porters charge per bag. If the sea is rough, hydrofoils can be cancelled and the slower car ferry substituted, so keep buffer time before flights. Tell your driver your ferry departure time, not just the destination, so they choose Beverello or Mergellina and time the pickup accordingly.
