Private transfer from Nantes Atlantique Airport to Vannes
Door-to-door transfer from Nantes Atlantique Airport to Vannes with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Why people travel to Vannes
Vannes sits at the head of the Gulf of Morbihan, and most visitors come for the water and the medieval centre. The walled old town keeps its ramparts, the timber-framed houses around Place Henri IV, La Cohue market hall and Saint-Pierre Cathedral, all inside pedestrian lanes. Down at the port, the marina channel runs right up to Porte Saint-Vincent, and boats leave for the gulf islands, Île aux Moines and Île d'Arz. Families use the small beach at Conleau, sailors and day-trippers fill the town from June to September, and the covered market and cafés stay busy year-round with residents. Golfers head to nearby courses at Baden and Saint-Gildas. Spring and early autumn are calmer for walking the ramparts gardens.
The drive west on the N165
From Nantes Atlantique the driver joins the Nantes ring road and then the N165 (E60) heading west toward Lorient. This is a toll-free dual carriageway for almost the whole journey, so there are no barriers to stop at. The terrain is inland and mostly flat farmland, with one notable point: the crossing of the Vilaine near La Roche-Bernard, where the road runs high above the river valley. The trip covers roughly 110 kilometres and usually takes about an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half. Exits are signposted for Vannes-Ouest, Vannes-Centre and the port, so the final stretch into town is short. Arriving, you leave the fast road for ordinary streets before reaching the old town or the marina.
Practical tips for this route
The N165 carries heavy holiday traffic in July and August, especially on Saturday changeover days when families head to the coast; allow extra time then. The old town is pedestrian, so ask to be dropped at Porte Saint-Vincent or along the port rather than inside the walls, as vehicles cannot follow the narrow lanes. If your hotel is in the centre, note the address near the ramparts so the driver picks the closest access point. For island trips, the passenger terminals for gulf boats are right by the marina, walkable from a port drop-off. Vannes station has TGV links, useful if you continue onward. There are no motorway tolls to budget for on this corridor, and the last kilometres into town can slow at peak market hours around Place des Lices.
