Private transfer from Menorca Airport to Fornells
Door-to-door transfer from Menorca Airport to Fornells with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Fornells is known for
Fornells is a small fishing village on Menorca's north coast, wrapped around a long, narrow, sheltered bay. It's best known for lobster (the caldereta de langosta served at the seafront restaurants along Carrer Major) and for its calm water, which makes the bay a base for sailing and windsurfing schools. The whitewashed old streets run back from the harbour to Sant Antoni church, and the Torre de Fornells, a British-era defensive tower, sits on the headland guarding the entrance. Nearby are Cala Tirant and the beaches at Cap de Cavalleria, plus the lighthouse walk. Visitors are mostly couples, sailors and food-focused day-trippers rather than big resort crowds; it stays quieter than the south-coast towns and is busiest from June through September.
The drive north from the airport
Fornells sits at the far north of the island, so the transfer crosses Menorca from Maó. From the airport you first head towards Maó and pick up the Me-1, the main east–west road, running inland through farmland and low stone-walled countryside to Es Mercadal, roughly in the centre of the island. At Es Mercadal you turn north onto the Me-15, a quieter single-carriageway road that runs straight out to the coast and ends at Fornells. The terrain is gentle and inland for most of the way, with no mountain climbs; Monte Toro, the island's highest point, is visible off to the side near Es Mercadal. The final stretch approaches the bay and the village edge, where the streets narrow towards the harbour. Expect around 40 minutes in normal traffic.
Practical tips for this transfer
There is no fast road all the way to Fornells, so don't assume the trip is as quick as reaching the south-coast resorts near Maó; budget around 40 minutes. If your accommodation is inside the old village, tell the driver in advance, as the harbourside streets are narrow and some are pedestrianised, meaning the drop-off may be at a nearby corner rather than the door. Public transport to Fornells is limited, especially outside summer and in the evenings, which is when a booked transfer is most useful for arriving diners or late flights. Es Mercadal, passed en route, is a good stop for a supermarket run if you're self-catering, since Fornells itself has only small shops. For return trips, allow extra time in July and August, when the single road in and out gets busier.
