Private transfer from Menorca Airport to Ciutadella
Door-to-door transfer from Menorca Airport to Ciutadella with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
Arriving in Ciutadella at the island's western end
Ciutadella sits at the opposite end of Menorca from the airport and was the island's old capital. Its centre is built around the Plaça des Born, the Cathedral of Santa Maria and a tight grid of stone-paved streets that fill with visitors in summer and remain busy with residents year-round. The narrow harbour, lined with restaurants below the old walls, is a working port and a natural meeting point. Many travellers use Ciutadella as a base for the south-coast calas — Cala Macarella, Macarelleta, Cala en Turqueta and Son Saura — and for closer beaches like Cala Blanca and Cala Morell. In late June the Festes de Sant Joan bring horses into the old streets, and the town books out well ahead of that week.
The Me-1 drive across the island
The route runs almost entirely on the Me-1, the single main road that crosses Menorca from Maó in the east to Ciutadella in the west. It's a straightforward inland drive through gently rolling farmland, passing the turnoffs for Alaior, Es Mercadal and Ferreries rather than going through the towns. The terrain is open and agricultural, with dry-stone walls and grazing land rather than coast or mountains; you won't see the sea for most of the trip. Near the western end the road passes close to the Naveta des Tudons, a prehistoric stone monument visible from the highway. The journey takes roughly three-quarters of an hour. On arrival, the old town's pedestrian and one-way streets mean drop-offs are usually made at the edge of the centre or near the port.
Practical tips for this transfer
Ciutadella is the longest transfer on the island, so it's worth having your accommodation's exact address ready, including whether it's inside the old town's restricted-traffic zone — vehicles often can't reach the door there. If you're staying at a coastal urbanisation like Cala Blanca, Cala'n Bosch or Son Xoriguer, note the specific complex, as several share access roads south of the town. The south-coast beaches near Ciutadella are reached by narrow lanes with limited or paid parking in summer, so many visitors rely on the daytime bus from Ciutadella or on transfers rather than driving there. If you arrive for Sant Joan in late June, confirm access in advance: streets in the centre close for the horse events. Ferries to Mallorca also leave from Ciutadella's commercial port, useful if you're island-hopping.
