Private transfer from Menorca Airport to Cala Galdana
Door-to-door transfer from Menorca Airport to Cala Galdana with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Cala Galdana is like
Cala Galdana sits on Menorca's south coast, a horseshoe-shaped sandy bay closed in by pine-topped limestone cliffs where the Algendar gorge meets the sea. It's a family resort: several mid-size hotels and apartment blocks ring the beach, with sun loungers, kayak and pedalo hire, and calm shallow water. Most visitors come between May and September. From the eastern end of the bay the Camí de Cavalls coastal path leads on foot to the wilder, undeveloped beaches of Cala Mitjana and, in the other direction, Cala Macarella and Macarelleta. The nearest inland town is Ferreries, a few kilometres up the valley, which has supermarkets, pharmacies and a weekly market that resort guests use for supplies.
The drive from the airport to the bay
Menorca Airport sits just south of Maó at the eastern end of the island, while Cala Galdana is roughly in the centre of the south coast, so the transfer crosses much of the island. The route follows the Me-1, the main road linking Maó and Ciutadella, running inland across gently rolling farmland for most of the way. Near Ferreries you leave the Me-1 and take the Me-22, which drops down through the wooded Algendar valley to the coast. The final stretch is a narrow, winding descent into the resort, with a bend or two just before the bay opens up. Total distance is around 40 kilometres and the drive normally takes about 45 minutes, longer in peak-season afternoon traffic.
Practical tips for this route
Cala Galdana's resort spreads over several levels, with hotels and apartments reached by different entrances off the descending road, so have the exact name of your accommodation ready — some are down by the beach, others higher on the cliff. Parking is tight in July and August and day-trippers fill the car parks early, another reason a door-to-door transfer helps. If you plan to walk the Camí de Cavalls to Cala Macarella or Cala Mitjana, bring proper footwear and water, as there are few facilities on those beaches. For self-catering stays, ask the driver to pause at a supermarket in Ferreries on the way in, since options within the resort itself are limited and pricier. The winding final descent can be uncomfortable for anyone prone to travel sickness.
