The journey is roughly 50 km and normally takes under an hour, though traffic on the A50 near Marseille can add time at rush hour and on summer weekends. You leave the motorway at the Cassis exit, after which the D559 winds downhill through pine and scrub toward the coast. The final approach into town is narrow and slow, especially near the port.

The old town and the streets around the port are largely pedestrianised or very tight, so a private car will usually drop you at the nearest accessible point rather than at the door; tell your driver the exact address or hotel so they can pick the closest drop-off. Parking in central Cassis is scarce and controlled in summer, which is one reason a transfer beats a rental car for a short stay.
