Private transfer from Malta International Airport to Sliema
Door-to-door transfer from Malta International Airport to Sliema with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Sliema is known for
Sliema sits across Marsamxett Harbour from Valletta and is one of Malta's busiest residential and hotel districts. Its long seafront promenade runs from the Ferries interchange along Tigné Point and Qui-si-Sana towards St Julian's, and rather than sand you'll find flat rock ledges and cut-in lidos where locals swim. The Point shopping mall on Tigné, the Sliema ferry to Valletta, and the harbour cruise landing stage are the main fixed points. Visitors come year-round for the hotels, the walkable shopping streets around Bisazza Street and Tower Road, and quick access to Valletta and St Julian's nightlife. Summer brings sunbathers to the rocks; spring and autumn suit walkers doing the full promenade to St Julian's.
The drive from the airport to Sliema
The route runs north from Luqa, mostly on urban dual carriageway rather than open motorway — Malta has no long highways. Drivers typically take the Regional Road corridor through Santa Venera and Msida, then follow Msida Creek and the harbour front into Gżira before reaching Sliema. It's roughly 11 km and usually 20–30 minutes, but the Msida area and the Sliema seafront jam badly at peak hours and around school runs. The final approach is along narrow one-way streets behind the promenade; many Sliema hotels sit on Tower Road or the Tigné side, where cars can only stop briefly. You'll notice the harbour views open up as you pass Msida marina and cross towards the Ferries.
Practical tips for this transfer
Give your driver the exact hotel name and street, since Tower Road, the Strand and the Tigné Point side are treated as separate drop-offs and are hard to reach from one another once traffic builds. If you're staying near the Ferries, expect the driver to stop on The Strand rather than pull onto the promenade itself, which is closed to through traffic in parts. Travelling on a Sunday morning, note the Monti market and events can close sections of the seafront. For an early flight out, allow extra time through Msida in weekday rush hour. If your final destination is really St Julian's or Paceville, say so — it's a short continuation up the coast and shouldn't need a separate booking.
