Golden Bay (Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa) is one of Malta's larger sandy beaches, on the northwest coast below the village of Manikata in the Mġarr area. It faces west, so it fills up in late afternoon with people who come specifically for the sunset over the open sea. The Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Golden Sands sits directly above the sand, and many arrivals are hotel guests. In summer there are lifeguards, sun-loungers and water-sports operators; families and swimmers dominate. A short walk south over the headland reaches the quieter, steeper Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, and Ġnejna Bay lies further along. Off-season the beach is used mainly by walkers and locals from Mġarr and Mellieħa.

Malta International Airport is at Luqa, in the south-centre of the island, and Golden Bay is at the far northwest, so the transfer crosses most of Malta — roughly 25 km. There is no continuous motorway; the route uses the island's main arterial roads, passing near Attard and the central towns before heading out towards Mġarr and Manikata. The final stretch is inland and rural, running through farmland and past the church at Manikata, then descending on a winding approach down to the bay itself. Traffic through the central corridor is the main variable: outside peak commuting hours the drive is around 40 minutes, but midday and rush-hour congestion around the centre can add time.

Golden Bay has no train or metro link and limited public transport, so a direct transfer avoids a slow bus change in Valletta. Confirm your exact drop-off: vehicles can reach the Radisson's entrance and the car park at the top of the beach, but the sand itself is down a slope and steps, so pack light if you're heading straight to the water. If you're staying at the resort, note the drive is largely inland — this is not a coastal-road transfer, so daytime views are of countryside, not sea. For sunset visits, allow extra time on summer evenings as the car park fills. On the return, book pickup with buffer for central-Malta traffic, especially on weekday mornings.
