From there the A-22 Via do Infante crosses the Algarve inland of the coast, with exits for Faro before the Boliqueime and Vilamoura turnoffs. It is motorway almost the whole way, mostly rolling and inland rather than clifftop, with a short final stretch down towards the marina and resort area.

Because this is a border crossing, carry your passport or ID card even within the Schengen area, as random checks do happen. Remember the one-hour time change when planning arrival times or a return flight from Málaga — set your phone before you rely on it. The A-22 in Portugal is an electronic-toll motorway with no cash booths; a private transfer handles this for you, but note it if you ever self-drive. Given the length, plan a comfort or fuel stop, with practical options around Seville or Huelva roughly midway. Vilamoura is a large resort with several access roads and gated developments, so give your driver the exact hotel, villa or marina berth name rather than just "Vilamoura".
