The first two-thirds are fast, straightforward motorway; the terrain shifts from coastal to open plains of olive groves, and the last section becomes hillier with some curves as you approach the Subbéticas. The final approach into Priego itself is straightforward, though the streets around the old town and Barrio de la Villa are tight and one-way in places.

Priego has no train station and limited bus links, so a direct road transfer is usually the simplest way in from Málaga; the alternative involves changes through Lucena or Córdoba and long waits. Give your driver the exact street address, as many places to stay are inside or near the Barrio de la Villa where vehicles cannot reach the door and you may be dropped at the nearest accessible corner. Bring cash for the town, as some smaller bars and oil producers are card-shy.
