Spring and autumn are the comfortable seasons; midsummer here is genuinely hot and dry, well away from any sea breeze. The old centre rewards walking, with the necropolis and the collegiate church a short climb above the main squares.

The route leaves the airport and climbs away from the coast, joining the A-45 motorway toward Antequera. From there you pick up the A-92, the main dual carriageway that runs across Andalusia toward Seville and Granada. The terrain changes quickly: after the mountains behind Málaga you cross the open farmland and olive country of the Antequera plain, with long straight stretches and rolling hills of grain and olive groves. It's motorway or fast dual carriageway almost the entire way, so the journey is smooth with no winding sections until the final exit. Osuna appears on its low hill from a distance. Expect roughly an hour and a half in normal traffic. The last few minutes leave the A-92 and lead into town, where streets narrow near the historic centre.

Because Osuna is inland and not on a train line with frequent airport connections, a direct road transfer is the simplest way to arrive with luggage. Give your driver the specific address, as the historic centre has narrow, sometimes one-way streets around the collegiate church and Calle San Pedro; some accommodation is easier to reach from a designated drop-off point rather than the door. There are no motorway services immediately at Osuna, so if you need a stop, the Antequera area partway along is the practical choice. If you plan to continue to Seville, Córdoba or the pueblos blancos afterward, mention it when booking, as Osuna works well as a stop on a wider inland itinerary. Carry water and sun protection in summer; shade is limited on the hilltop monuments.
