From there the road climbs steadily away from the sea into farmland and low hills, with the final approach to Monda on a shorter local road that winds up towards the village. The whole trip usually takes around three-quarters of an hour depending on coastal traffic near the airport. You will notice the change from busy motorway to quiet two-lane road, and the last few minutes tighten as you reach the edge of the old village below the castle.

Give the driver a clear drop-off point: the streets inside the old village are narrow and some are stepped or one-way, so vehicles often stop at the edge near the main square or at the castle access road rather than at the door. If you are staying at the Castillo de Monda, mention it when booking, as the approach road is separate from the village core. There is little in the way of taxi ranks in the village itself, so arranging your return in advance is sensible. Bring supplies for arrival outside normal hours, since Monda's few shops keep small-town timetables and close in the afternoon.
