Molvízar is a small white village sitting on a hillside inland from Salobreña, in Granada's Costa Tropical. It looks down over the Guadalfeo river valley, where the warm microclimate supports avocados, custard apples (chirimoya) and mango plantations you'll see terraced across the slopes. This is not a resort town: most visitors are people with second homes, rural-holiday guests, and travellers using it as a quiet base to reach Salobreña and Motril beaches roughly ten to fifteen minutes downhill. The centre is compact, with narrow streets around the church of San Antonio de Padua and small plazas. Nearby villages like Ítrabo, Otívar and Vélez de Benaudalla share the same agricultural, low-key character. Come for walking, tropical-fruit country and coastal access without the crowds of the western Costa del Sol.

Almost the whole journey runs on the A-7 (Autovía del Mediterráneo) heading east along the coast. After leaving the airport you pass Málaga city, then Rincón de la Victoria, Nerja and the tunnels around La Herradura and Almuñécar — a stretch with sea views on one side and mountains on the other. Past Almuñécar the road cuts inland briefly before the Salobreña area, where you exit toward Molvízar. The final section leaves the motorway for a local road that climbs and winds up the valley to the village, so expect the last few minutes to be slower and twisting. Total road distance is roughly 105 km and the drive normally takes around an hour and a half, longer in summer when the coastal stretch near Nerja and Almuñécar gets busy.

Molvízar's centre has steep, narrow streets that larger vehicles can't always enter, so tell us the exact address and, if you're staying in the old part, agree a drop-off point where the driver can stop safely — you may have a short walk uphill with luggage. Many rural houses and fincas sit on the tracks below the village toward the valley; share a pin location, as GPS can be unreliable among the plantations. There's no train to Molvízar and local bus links are limited, which is why a direct transfer makes sense. If you plan to reach Salobreña, Motril or the beaches during your stay, a car is useful, but for airport arrival a booked transfer avoids the winding final climb after a flight. Stock up on supplies in Salobreña, as village shops keep short hours.
