Private transfer from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Mollina
Door-to-door transfer from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Mollina with professional driver, fixed price and flight monitoring included.
What Mollina is known for
Mollina sits inland in the Antequera region, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves rather than coastline. It's wine country: Bodegas Málaga Virgen lies just off the A-45 on the town's edge, and the area produces the sweet Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez grapes tied to Málaga's DO wines. The town itself is small and working, built around the church of Nuestra Señora de la Oliva and quiet residential streets. Many visitors are here for the CEULAJ youth centre, which hosts international courses and camps, or as a base near the Fuente de Piedra lagoon, where flamingos nest in spring. Antequera, with its dolmens and El Torcal limestone landscape, is a short drive away, so Mollina works well for travellers exploring the interior rather than the beach resorts.
The drive inland on the A-45
The route leaves the airport and joins the A-45 heading north, away from the coast. After the built-up stretch around Málaga the motorway climbs through the Montes de Málaga corridor, crossing the pass near Casabermeja and Villanueva de la Concepción with the El Torcal massif visible to the west. The terrain opens into the wide Antequera plain, flat farmland planted with cereal, olives and vines. Near Antequera the road connects toward the A-92M, and Mollina is reached by a short exit onto local roads through open country. It's almost entirely dual carriageway, so the journey is smooth with no winding coastal sections; the only slower part is the final approach into the town itself. Expect roughly 50 minutes in normal traffic.
Practical tips for arriving in Mollina
Mollina has very limited public transport, so a direct transfer saves a lot of hassle: train and bus connections mostly go via Antequera and leave you well short of the town. If your stay involves the CEULAJ centre, give the driver the full address, as it sits on the outskirts rather than in the centre. Confirm whether your accommodation is a village house or a rural finca in the surrounding countryside, since many properties here are down unpaved access lanes that are hard to find after dark. Petrol and full supermarkets are easier to reach in Antequera than in Mollina itself, so plan a stop if you're arriving late. For the Fuente de Piedra flamingos, the lagoon is busiest and fullest between roughly February and June.
