You then leave the dual carriageway for the A-348, a slower single-lane road that winds east through Órgiva before the final climb up to Lanjarón. Expect most of the journey to be fast motorway, then a noticeably twistier last stretch as the road gains altitude into the mountains. The whole trip runs about two hours depending on traffic through the coastal towns, which are busiest in July and August.

Lanjarón's main street is narrow and often busy near the balneario, so confirm the exact address of your hotel or apartment — some are only reachable on foot up side alleys, and the driver may drop you at the nearest accessible point. If you plan to continue to the higher Alpujarra villages, a private transfer is genuinely useful because public buses are infrequent. Bring layers: even in summer the mountain evenings are cooler than the coast. The last shops and larger supermarkets are down in Órgiva, so stock up there if you need anything before heading up.
