The final stretch drops down to the H-410/H-411 coastal road into the resort. It is motorway almost the whole way, mostly flat farmland and pine after Seville, so the journey is steady rather than winding. Expect close to four hours, longer in summer weekend traffic near Marbella and around Seville.

Given the distance, treat this as a half-day of travel and plan a comfort stop — the service areas around Seville or on the A-49 near Huelva are the logical break points. Many travellers flying into western Huelva compare Faro (Portugal) as an alternative airport, but a Málaga transfer keeps you on one Schengen side and avoids car-hire drop-off complications. Confirm your exact address within the resort: Isla Canela has separate zones for the beachfront apartments, the golf area and Punta del Moral, and gated complexes can have more than one entrance. If you're crossing to Portugal, note the time-zone change (Portugal is one hour behind). For long drives, book a vehicle with generous luggage space and request child seats in advance.
