Huércal-Overa sits inland in northern Almería province, in the Almanzora valley near the border with Murcia. This is a long but straightforward run, almost entirely on the A-7 Mediterranean motorway. From the airport you head east past Rincón de la Victoria, Nerja and the cliffs of La Herradura and Almuñécar, then cross into Granada and Almería provinces. The road skirts Almería city and continues northeast through drier, more open country, with the Sierra de los Filabres to the west and the arid Tabernas landscape not far inland. Huércal-Overa is reached directly from a marked A-7 exit, so there's no winding mountain finish — the last stretch is a short drop from the motorway into town. Plan for around three hours of driving. It's one of the longer transfers from Málaga, so it's worth breaking with a stop.
