Private transfer from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Gibraltar

The route leaves Málaga airport on the A-7/AP-7 corridor heading west along the Costa del Sol, passing Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona. Most of the journey is dual-carriageway motorway, so it moves quickly outside peak resort traffic. Around San Roque the road turns south toward the bay, with the Rock visible ahead as you approach. The transfer normally ends in La Línea de la Concepción, at the Spanish side of the frontier, because private cars face long queues and paperwork to cross into Gibraltar itself. From there the border is a short walk, and Winston Churchill Avenue famously crosses the airport runway on foot. Expect roughly an hour and a half door to door, longer on summer weekends.

Bring your passport even for a day visit: Gibraltar is outside Spain and border checks apply in both directions. Queues at the frontier can be long, especially late afternoon when day-trippers return, so allow extra time before any onward flight. Gibraltar uses the pound and drives on the left, though most shops accept euros and cards. If you're heading to the Rock's attractions, official taxi tours and the cable car both start near the border, saving the climb. For the return transfer, arrange your pickup in La Línea rather than inside Gibraltar, as vehicles cross slowly. Weekday mornings are the calmest times to cross on foot, and the walk from the border into town takes only a few minutes.
