It's quiet and car-oriented rather than a walk-to-the-bar location, so most visitors plan to drive or transfer for shops, restaurants and the seafront.

The route follows the A-7 (or the AP-7 toll motorway) westbound along the coast, passing Torremolinos and Benalmádena before you reach the Fuengirola and Mijas Costa exits. That stretch is fast, dual-carriageway driving and takes up most of the journey. The character changes at the end: you leave the coast road and climb inland on progressively narrower, winding roads that switch back up the hillside to reach the urbanisation. The final approach through Cerros del Aguila itself has steep gradients and tight bends between the villas, and street numbering can jump around across different sections. Typical door-to-door time is around 35 minutes in normal traffic, though summer congestion around Fuengirola and airport-area roadworks can add to that.

Because Cerros del Aguila is spread across several sections with repeated street names and awkward numbering, send your driver the exact villa name or plot reference, plus a pin from your rental listing rather than just the urbanisation name. GPS often drops you at the wrong terrace. If you're arriving after dark, note that parts of the internal roads are steep and poorly lit, so agreed lighting or a contact number at the villa helps. There are no large supermarkets within walking distance, so ask about a quick stop at a shop in La Cala de Mijas or Fuengirola on the way up if you want supplies for the first night. For departures, book the pickup with extra margin in July and August, when the coastal A-7 through Fuengirola slows considerably.
