Private transfer from Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport to Cártama

Cártama splits into two distinct parts, and it matters for a driver. Cártama Pueblo is the old town, built up the slope of a hill crowned by the Ermita de la Virgen de los Remedios, with narrow streets and Roman roots as ancient Cartima. Cártama Estación is the flatter, newer district beside the Guadalhorce river and the Cercanías C-2 line toward Álora. Most people here are residents and families rather than tourists: it's a growing commuter town for people working in Málaga who want more space and lower rents. The surrounding valley is farmland — citrus, lemons and olives. Nearby you'll find Alhaurín de la Torre, Pizarra, Coín and Álora, all reachable by the same inland roads.

This is a short, mostly fast inland run, not a coastal one. From the airport you skirt the western edge of Málaga and pick up the A-357, the Autovía del Guadalhorce, which is dual carriageway for nearly the whole way. You leave the coast behind quickly and head into open valley terrain — flat farmland with hills rising on either side. The trip is around 22 kilometres and usually takes about 25 minutes with normal traffic. The one thing to note: if you're going to Cártama Pueblo rather than the Estación, the final stretch climbs into the old town, where streets become narrow and steep and larger vehicles can't always reach the very top near the ermita.

Tell the driver clearly whether you want Cártama Pueblo or Cártama Estación — they are several kilometres apart and often confused. If your address is in the old town, share the exact street name; some upper lanes are pedestrianised or too tight for a car, so agree a drop-off point you can walk from. The Estación side is easier for luggage, being flat with modern streets. Because Cártama has little in the way of tourist services, do any airport shopping (SIM cards, pharmacy items, large supermarket runs) before leaving, especially on Sunday evenings when local shops close early. If you plan later trips into Málaga, note the Cercanías C-2 train from Cártama Estación is a cheap, reliable alternative to driving into the city.
