What Campanillas is and who goes there
Campanillas is an inland district on the western edge of Málaga city, best known as the home of the Parque Tecnológico de Andalucía (PTA), a large technology and business park where companies like software firms, telecoms and research centres are based. Most people arriving here are business travellers, engineers on assignment or staff relocating to work at the PTA, rather than beach tourists. The district also includes residential areas along the Guadalhorce valley and smaller settlements such as Santa Rosalía, Colmenarejo and Maqueda. It sits away from the coast, so expect an ordinary working town with local bars, supermarkets and a river-valley setting rather than seafront promenades or resorts. The University of Málaga's Ada Byron building and various corporate campuses draw regular visitors year-round.
The drive from the airport to Campanillas
The route is short and almost entirely on fast roads. From the airport you head onto the MA-20 ring road and then pick up the A-357, the main corridor running inland along the Guadalhorce valley towards Cártama and Ronda. The drive is roughly 15 kilometres and usually takes around 20 to 25 minutes outside of rush hour. Terrain is flat river-valley for most of the way, with the airport and industrial areas giving way to open ground and the low hills around the valley. The final approach depends on your exact destination: reaching the PTA involves leaving the A-357 and following signposted roundabouts into the park, while the older village centre of Campanillas is reached by narrower local streets. There are no mountain passes or winding sections.
Practical tips for this route
The PTA is spread across a wide area with several avenues and roundabouts, so give your driver the specific building name, company or street rather than just "the technology park" — distances between entrances are significant on foot. Morning rush hour on the MA-20 and A-357 can slow things down noticeably, especially between roughly 8 and 9:30 am when PTA staff commute in; allow extra time if you have a meeting. Public transport to the PTA is limited and infrequent compared with a direct car, which is why many business visitors book a transfer. If you are staying in one of the residential areas like Santa Rosalía or near the village, confirm the postcode, as some local streets are narrow. There is little in the way of tourist amenities, so handle any shopping or currency needs at the airport.
