Once past La Herradura you leave the motorway and the final approach becomes a short, winding climb up narrow hillside streets to reach the individual properties. The full journey is roughly 85 kilometres and usually takes a little over an hour, though summer weekends and the Nerja–Almuñécar section can slow things down.

Addresses in Barranco del Sol are spread across the hillside and the house numbering can be confusing, so send the exact villa name or urbanisation reference and a pin location in advance rather than just a street name — it saves the driver circling on steep, narrow lanes. Larger vehicles cope with the final climb but very tight private accesses may mean a short walk with bags. There is no full supermarket in the immediate area, so if you are self-catering, a stop in La Herradura or Almuñécar for groceries on the way in is worth arranging beforehand.
